The updated FAQ's for the 2010 season will be posted here when schedules and calendars are confirmed in February of 2010. The following contains information relating to the 2009 season:
If you have any questions that are not answered below, please e-mail mikes@dccnet.com
1.0 When does the season start and end?
the 2009 season begins on April 6 with our opening day parade and tournament occurring on the weekend of April 4. The season is concluded on the second to last weekend of June with the 'Dueck Cup'. Teams in provincial play continue after this.
2.0 What days of the week do the teams play?
most teams play twice weekly and depending on the division (usually Mite and above) there will be weekend play every couple of weeks in tournaments. Take a look HERE to see who plays when.
3.0 Who do the teams play against?
in house play for T-ball and Mini-Mite, teams generally play each other within the TMSA. In Mite division 'Interlock' is introduced and games are played within the TMSA but also with Ladner.
In Squirt and above the interlock is expanded and will include Ladner, North Delta and Richmond
4.0 I would like to coach but am not sure if I have the skill
the TMSA is an orgnaization run by volunteers. The success of our program starts with the most important volunteers and those are the moms and dads who step up to look after the kids...usually in T-Ball. We try our best to help the coaches learn the game as best as we can and offer coaching clinics and seminars for all of our volunteers. It is our hope that the volunteer coaches maintain an interest in helping their children and others enjoy and move on with the game.
In the early years it is not important to have any coaching experience or any super-duper knowlegde of the game. Parents at this age group should have good communications skills with children and be able to organize a practice.
At Mite level the TMSA hopes that coaches have some experience coaching softball and it is prefered that they have or would be interested in taking the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). The TMSA graduated 8 Level 1 coaches in 2007 and will be offering to pay for the program by correspondance this year.
Softball BC will require that head coaches at Squirt and above have their Level 1 Certification.
Coaches who have teams entering Provincial Play should have or have as part of their coaching staff, a Level 2 certified coach.
